School of the Arts

As a school we also have the privilege of having access to private lessons in music, dance, drama, and various other arts courses.

Performing Arts:

Edwin Forrest wrote: 'A passion for the dramatic arts is inherent in the nature of man.' This quote rings true because drama is a part of each and every one of our lives. At Oasis, drama is more than just a subject, it is a highlight in our extra-curricular programme. We have the opportunity to explore our creativity through poetry recitation, plays, mime and other aspects of performing arts as well as use the skills we learn as a ministry tool - whether it’s at school, putting on a production as an outreach, performing skits at primary schools and clinics or simply sharing the Gospel in a new and exciting way. We are a member of the Speech and Drama Association of South Africa and we host an annual Speech and Drama Festival, where each child is given the opportunity to perform.

Visual Arts:

'Art is as natural as sunshine and as vital as nourishment.' Each student is given the opportunity to explore their artistic and creative side during their weekly art lessons. These are times of learning both the theory and practical outworking of various mediums.

Private Lessons:

Music and dance lessons are privately run and details available on request. Students can enrol at the beginning of the first and third terms. Places are granted based on space and so some delays may be experienced as our Arts School lessons are well supported.

Private tuition is offered in the following:

  • Piano
  • Drums
  • Guitar – acoustic and bass
  • Tuba
  • Trombone
  • Trumpet
  • Voice
  • Ballet

Once a year we host an Art and Music Exhibition Evening, where our School of the Arts students have the opportunity to showcase their work. We also participate in Music Eisteddfods and Examinations during the course of the year.
